Citizen Science is increasingly recognised as a strategic methodology for addressing complex societal challenges, particularly in areas where research, communities, and policy intersect. Within this context, T6 Ecosystems contributed to the SPHERA project training programme, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to participatory research, impact assessment, and inclusive innovation.
SPHERA – Spreading Global Health Citizen Science Research Methodologies for UNITA – is funded under the UNITA University Alliance Starting Grants call and promotes capacity building on Citizen Science methodologies applied to Global Health. As part of the initiative, an international online course titled “Citizen Science for Global Health” was launched, running from February to June 2026, and attracting 283 participants including PhD students, researchers, and technical university staff.
Within the programme, T6 Ecosystems contributed to the lessons focused on the Social Aspects of Citizen Science, bringing its expertise in participatory processes, impact assessment, and inclusive engagement. T6’s approach combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies to support more effective, ethical, and socially impactful research and innovation processes. The course aims to introduce participants to Citizen Science as an innovative methodology for Global Health research, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and socially engaged research practices.
T6’s participation in SPHERA further consolidates its role as an actor supporting responsible research and innovation ecosystems at the European level.
